The Andaman and Nicobar Islands run on a small but steady economy built around tourism, fishing, and inter-island trade — sectors where formal bank branches are thin on the ground and turnaround times can be slow. As SIP and mutual fund penetration deepens across Andaman and Nicobar Islands, AMFI-registered distributors are the compliant channel driving that growth.
StartRight4U works with distributors across Andaman and Nicobar Islands to get AMFI registration done right, from exam to ARN issuance.
What Is AMFI Registration?
AMFI Registration gives an individual or entity an ARN (AMFI Registration Number), the mandatory credential required to sell or distribute mutual fund schemes in India, administered by the Association of Mutual Funds in India on behalf of SEBI. Without a valid ARN, a distributor cannot legally earn commission or facilitate mutual fund transactions on behalf of asset management companies.
Who Needs AMFI Registration
- Individual Mutual Fund Distributors: financial advisors and agents selling mutual fund schemes to retail clients
- Corporate Distributors: firms, banks, and NBFCs distributing mutual funds at scale, requiring an ARN for the entity plus Employee Unique Identification Numbers (EUIN) for individual sales staff
- Anyone earning commission from mutual fund sales, regardless of whether it's their primary business
Eligibility Criteria for AMFI Registration
- Minimum age of 18 years for individual applicants
- A valid NISM Series V-A (Mutual Fund Distributors) certification, obtained by clearing the NISM exam
- PAN card and completion of KYD (Know Your Distributor) formalities
- For corporate applicants, valid business registration and authorised signatory documentation
Documents Required for AMFI Registration
- NISM Series V-A certification proof
- PAN card and Aadhaar or other government-issued identity proof
- Passport-sized photographs
- KYD form completed through a CAMS-authorised point of service
- Business registration documents and authorised signatory KYC, for corporate applicants
Step-by-Step AMFI Registration Process
- Clear the NISM Series V-A (Mutual Fund Distributors) certification exam
- Complete the KYD process at a CAMS-authorised point of service with the required documents
- Submit the ARN application along with the NISM certificate and KYD acknowledgement
- Pay the applicable registration fee
