Mizoram's economy runs on agriculture and horticulture, a well-established bamboo industry, and small-scale trade, with formal banking presence concentrated mainly around Aizawl. Any business in Mizoram planning to process online merchant payments at scale will need RBI's Payment Aggregator authorisation before going live.
StartRight4U supports Mizoram-based applicants through every stage of PA licensing, including net worth certification and RBI's technical scrutiny.
Understanding the Payment Gateway (PA) Licence
RBI's Payment Aggregator regulations require every non-bank entity that facilitates and settles online merchant payments to be licensed as a Payment Aggregator. Without this authorisation, a company cannot legally run a payment gateway handling card, UPI, or net-banking transactions on behalf of merchants in India.
The Reason This Licence Exists
A payment aggregator temporarily holds customer money on its way to a merchant — an exposure point RBI regulates closely to prevent misuse or loss in the event of financial distress. The PA licence requires a dedicated escrow or nodal account that keeps merchant settlement funds separate from the aggregator's own operating capital at all times.

- Minimum net worth of ₹15 crore at the time of application, reaching ₹25 crore by the end of year three
